Exotic Cocktail Robots and Vienna Sausages with monochrom

Posted in GETV Episode by ekai on the September 6th, 2006

While recently in New York City for HOPE2006, we caught up with Johannes, the main instigator of the Austrian based art-technology-philosophy group called monochrom. Johannes explains Roboexotica, an annual competition and expo for robots that serve cocktails to humans. Is this all a sausage party or is there real meat behind all this? Come find out.

Pleasant guy, really well mannered. He was all jumpy from eating sugared buns but he never ran out of steam talking about Monochrom’s projects. I think my favorite was their helping out a “nationless’ artist (a dissident sponsors couldn’t help) get his country back with borrowed letters at an international salon. The artist had his country of origin label removed by the exhibitor but Monochrom networked to get various artists to pitch in and donate letters. 😉

I hope they build a giant robot shogun warrior/evangelion type of robot toi serve cocktails. That would be soooo cool.
